More than £11,000 was raised for Birmingham’s Fisher House military hospital at Moseley Rugby Club’s 69-14 defeat of Darlington on Saturday.
Over 350 guests packed Moseley’s Reddings suite for an upbeat lunch auction hosted by the One Thousand Trades Group and compered by ex Leicester Tigers, England the British & Irish Lions fullback Tim Stimpson.
Fisher House, part of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, offers injured military personnel a “home away from home” as they undergo treatment and rehab.
Prof. Paul Cadman, CEO of One Thousand Trades Group, which includes The Technology Supply Chain and Starting Point Recruitment, said: “A heartfelt thank you goes out to the volunteers from Fisher House, the amazing staff at Moseley Rugby Club, our sponsors and every individual who attended. Your energy and support made this event truly unforgettable. Together, we made a meaningful difference, and we look forward to keeping the spirit of generosity alive.”
Among an array of VIP guests was Mihaela Savu, Romanian Consul General to the UK, who said: “Fisher House does extraordinary work, offering comfort and care to those who’ve served, and I was truly honoured to be part of raising funds for it. People who pledged their lives to their country and its allies deserve our highest respect, recognition, and support.”
The event at Moseley RFC helped also raise awareness and support for the Invictus Games, which Birmingham will host in 2027.
