The West Midlands economy has received a £120m boost thanks to a regional programme supporting business growth and tourism.
The Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund and the West Midlands Combined Authority’s economy, trade and tourism programme has attracted more than £70m in new investment and supported more than 250 businesses, protecting or creating 12,000 jobs, it is claimed.
More than 11,000 residents have accessed skills training, improving their career prospects.
Kabaddi World Cup and Godiva Festival
Cultural and sporting events backed by the programme – including the Kabaddi World Cup and Godiva Festival – drew 300,000 attendees, contributing an estimated £19m to the economy.
WM mayor Richard Parker said the programme “delivered real results” and pledged to build on the momentum with a plan for inclusive regional growth.
