£19bn of WM investment

More than £19bn of investment is being mobilised across the West Midlands, the combined authority said.

The WMCA has launched a digital platform – https://www.siteselectionwm.com/ – mapping out 64 of the main development sites which it says is designed to “target the national and global developer community.”

West Midlands growth plan

Richard Parker, mayor of the West Midlands, said: “Over 1,000 acres of regeneration opportunities, Site Selection WM effectively captures the enormous scale of West Midlands ambition.”

Development projects

Projects included in the plan are: 

  • Smithfield Birmingham: £1.9bn regeneration of 17 hectares in the city centre.
  • Arden Cross: a £3.2bn, 140-hectare scheme around HS2’s Interchange station.
  • Transformation of West Bromwich town centre.
  • Coventry-Warwick Gigapark – electric vehicles and battery manufacturing.
  • Birmingham Knowledge Quarter – digital technology and medical technology.
  • Wolverhampton Green Innovation Corridor.
