University Hospitals Birmingham Charity staff and supporters are raising funds by abseiling down one of the city’s landmark office buildings.
Supporting four local hospitals
On September 20, participants will descend from the top of No. 3 Brindleyplace in support of four local hospital charities: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Heartlands Hospital Charity, Good Hope Hospital Charity and Solihull Hospital Charity.
The money raised will go towards funding projects and initiatives that enhance patient care and staff wellbeing across the hospitals.
Colleagues from across charities taking part
Among those taking on the challenge are NHS staff from Solihull Hospital. Andrew Clements, director of operations at Solihull Hospital and Community Services, will be joined by colleagues Jen Weigham, associate director of communications and engagement, and Ursula Hare, deputy director of nursing.
Raising money for a great cause
Andrew said: “I’m looking forward to taking part in the abseil alongside Jen and Ursula. It’s a great way to raise money for Solihull Hospital Charity and an opportunity to really make a difference to patients going through treatment at the hospital and within the community, as well as supporting the staff caring for them.
“It’s important for me to give back and support the hospital charity and the great work it does, funding added extras to enhance the patient experience at Solihull Hospital and Community Services.”
Supporting life-saving research
The charities fund a wide range of initiatives, from life-saving research and pioneering equipment to ward refurbishments, play facilities for children, and wellbeing activities.
Six further spaces available
Spaces for the abseil remain available, with a special offer of six places for the price of five, giving families, friends or colleagues the chance to take on the challenge together.
