Major milestone for WM-based Brandauer

Precision components from Birmingham will soon be helping shape the future of male grooming thanks to a major export breakthrough worth £4m.

Brandauer, a leading manufacturer based in Newtown and Aldridge, has secured a contract with LORD International in Egypt to supply ultra-thin stainless-steel parts for disposable razors.

The order reinforces the West Midlands firm’s growing international reputation for technical excellence and manufacturing agility.

Boost to jobs and apprenticeships

The deal has already created two toolmaker roles and new training opportunities for Brandauer’s apprentices, as the company gears up to deliver complex components at speed.

“This all stemmed from our pivot into healthcare in 2020,” explained CEO Rowan Crozier. “We used our stainless-steel stamping expertise to supply razor frames to the Middle East and that success led directly to this new contract.”

Investment in production lines

Brandauer has now invested nearly £800,000 into three dedicated production cells, including cutting-edge automation that can turn out 500 razor frames per minute. The advanced tooling and machinery were built specifically to meet LORD International’s demanding requirements.

A global grooming player

The Egyptian company, which ranks among the world’s top five wet shaving systems providers, praised Brandauer’s technical precision and commitment to quality.

“Brandauer delivered all the answers to our concerns,” said LORD’s Chief Technical Officer, Mohamed Soliman. “This is a strategic partnership with strong potential for growth.”

Flying the flag overseas

The two contracts are expected to generate nearly £1m in annual revenue for Brandauer, which exports to 27 countries and counting. Crozier, also an Export Champion for the Department for Business and Trade, highlighted the importance of government support and international marketing.

Brandauer is one of few UK firms to hold both King’s and Queen’s Awards for innovation and international trade.
