Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is accelerating its partnership with Aston University and Aston University Engineering Academy (AUEA), working with students to grow future engineering talent and strengthen the region’s skills base.

More than 20 live student-led projects are now underway at JLR’s Solihull plant – home of the iconic Range Rover.

From process improvement and data analysis to technical innovation, students are tackling real-world challenges shoulder-to-shoulder with senior JLR engineers.

Inspiring engineers of tomorrow

Shaun Byng, Senior Manufacturing and Maintenance Manager at JLR said: “We’re proud to mentor these brilliant students and see them contribute meaningfully to our operations.

“It’s a powerful way to inspire the next generation of engineers.”

Professor Kate Sugden of Aston University added: “It’s incredibly impactful to work with JLR and give our MSc students hands-on experience with industry experts. This partnership is building innovation and advancing regional skills.”

The collaboration complements JLR’s new Create Possible programme — a national STEM initiative offering free, curriculum-aligned resources for teachers and students across the UK and Ireland. The aim: to spark curiosity, open up career pathways and connect education directly with industry.

By connecting classroom learning with cutting-edge automotive innovation, JLR and Aston University are helping shape the engineers, technologists, and problem-solvers who will define the future of sustainable mobility – right here in the West Midlands.
