Jobs, homes, economic growth and better transport will be facilitated in the West Midlands by the government’s spending pledges, the region’s mayor said.
In her Spending Review, outlined to Parliament on Wednesday, Chancellor Rachel Reeves said overall UK-wide spending will rise 2.3% annually, despite decreases in some areas, equating to an additional £190bn over the parliament.

Sports Quarter
Included in her spending plans is £2.4bn announced last week for a new Metro tram route connecting the proposed Sports Quarter, in east Birmingham, to the city centre and Solihull to the south.
Richard Parker, WM mayor, said: “From the biggest boost to social housing in a generation, to billions for new transport links like the Midlands Rail Hub and the East Birmingham Metro extension, the Government is delivering the long-term investment we need to grow our economy and improve people’s lives.”
