West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker is urging local employers to back staff wellbeing by signing up to the Thrive at Work scheme.

Launched by the West Midlands Combined Authority, the initiative offers free resources and support to help businesses improve workplace health and mental wellbeing. It comes during Mental Health Awareness Week.

More than 650 businesses – including SMEs – have already joined, reaching around 300,000 workers across the region. Participants can earn recognition through Bronze, Silver or Gold awards.

Parker said healthier staff lead to stronger businesses: “When people feel well and supported, they thrive – and so do the businesses they work for.”

Companies like DENSO in Coventry and Howells Glazing in Cradley Heath say the scheme has boosted morale, reduced sick days and improved staff retention.
