Jaguar Land Rover has posted a “robust” set of results for Q3 of FY25 as prime minister Keir Starmer seeks to persuade his US counterpart Donald Trump not to impose potentially damaging tariffs on UK automotive imports.

JLR’s revenue for the quarter was £7.5bn, up 2% versus Q3 of the 2024 financial year, with year-to-date revenue at £21.2bn, which was flat year‑on‑year.

Compared to the preceding quarter, JLR’s revenue was up 16%, driven by higher wholesales following supply disruptions in the second quarter of the 2025 financial year.

While profit before tax was £523m, down from £627 million a year ago, year-to-date profit before tax was £1.6 billion, up 7% year-on-year and JLR’s best Q3 year-to-date profit before tax in a decade.

Adrian Mardell, CEO, said: “JLR has delivered a robust performance in the third quarter of our financial year. Thanks to our people and partners, we achieved record Q3 revenue and our best EBIT margin in a decade, and our electrification plans are progressing

“We revealed the beautiful, reimagined Jaguar design vision ‑ Type 00 ‑ in Miami and, later this year, we will launch Range Rover Electric.”

Starmer negotiating with Trump over threatened car import tariffs

News of JLR’s Q3 results comes amid concern over the potential impacts of Trump’s threats to impose 25% import taxes on UK automotive products – cars and car parts – to America.

PM Keir Starmer’s official spokesman said yesterday “constructive discussions” with the US were continuing this week as the UK seeks to do a deal to avert US levies, which could hit the likes of JLR and other UK car manufacturers hard.

Trump has imposed a series of tariffs on goods from other countries. Britain is already being hit by 25% tariffs on aluminium and steel it ships to the US.

The US President has dubbed tomorrow, April 2, “liberation day” for America as a suite of levies come into effect on imports from countries around the world.
