Dudley College of Technology has been named one of ten National Centres for Technical Excellence for Construction (CTEC.

It has secured a share of £100 million in government funding to enhance construction skills training over the next four years.

The initiative aims to train thousands of young people across the West Midlands in roles like builders, engineers and green technology specialists to meet the region’s housing and infrastructure demands.

This aligns with WM Mayor Richard Parker’s plan to build 120,000 new homes, including social housing, over the next decade.

“Dudley has a proud history of making and building, and this new status for Dudley College will help ensure it has a proud future too,” said Mayor Parker.

The college will collaborate with employers and regional providers to expand opportunities, building on its established training programs to address the growing need for skilled construction workers.
