Charlie Kirk dies aged 31

US political activist and close Trump ally, Charlie Kirk, has been assassinated at a campus event in Utah the US President has confirmed.

An influential activist

Kirk, who ran the conservative campaign group ‘Turning Point USA’ was shot by a gunman and subsequently killed at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem Utah.

FBI: “closely monitoring”

The FBI has revealed that it is “closely monitoring” the reports of the shooting and stated that it is sending agents to the scene in order to support with the response and investigation taking place at the University.

President Trump responds

Trump said: “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot”.

Reports suggest there was shock within the White House when the news broke.

Kirk dead

The suspect has since been arrested according to campus officials. Meanwhile, Kirk was transported to hospital, where he was later declared dead, something which was announced by President Trump.
