New strategy aims to boost city impact

Wolves Foundation has launched its most ambitious strategy to date, outlining a five-year plan built around four key pillars to create opportunities and improve lives across Wolverhampton.

The club’s official charity revealed the 2025-2030 strategy at Molineux in front of club officials, local dignitaries and community partners. Director Will Clowes presented the plan, developed following a year-long consultation led by specialist consultants Remedy.

The new strategy focuses on Economic Prosperity and Employment, Community Safety, Health and Wellbeing, and Stronger Together, setting measurable objectives to guide the Foundation’s work through two landmark anniversaries – the club’s 150th and the charity’s 20th as a registered organisation.

Clowes said: “We are both proud and excited to be sharing our new strategy, which is the most detailed and ambitious piece of work we have ever produced. If we can achieve these objectives, we will have played a significant role in the life of the city over the next five years.”

Collaborative approach

Remedy consulted a wide range of stakeholders, including trustees, Wolves’ senior leadership, supporters, the Fan Advisory Board, local authorities, Foundation staff and participants. The aim was to ensure the strategy reflects the breadth of the Foundation’s activities and the communities it serves.

Foundation chair Kevin Rogers praised the charity’s growth and community impact: “I am constantly inspired by the diverse projects the Foundation delivers and the positive impact it has on countless lives. The new strategy is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.”

High-profile launch

The launch event, hosted by broadcaster and Foundation ambassador Amber Sandhu, included a panel discussion featuring Wolverhampton West MP Warinder Juss, West Midlands Combined Authority’s Helene Dearn OBE, City of Wolverhampton Council’s director of public health John Denley, former Wolves captain Karl Henry, and the Premier League’s Andy McLaren.

Guests included Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi, vice-president John Richards, Mayor of Wolverhampton Craig Collingswood, council leader Stephen Simkins, and representatives from major funders including the Premier League and PFA.

A launch video produced by Wanderland Sports’ Yannie Makarounas showcased Foundation projects and featured appearances by ambassadors Suzi Perry, S-X, and Mark Rhodes, alongside the Mayor and boxer Ben Whittaker. A special photoshoot by Jaymo Studios, featuring participants aged from three to 87, provided the strategy’s cover image.

The Foundation will now begin work on delivering the plan in partnership with funders, the local authority and community stakeholders.
