Six months since opening its third shop and family butcher’s Eric Lyons is going strong.
The business, which opened its first store in Knowle, Solihull, 120 years ago, was able to expand into Bentley Heath thanks to a £60,000 grant which they match-funded.
The SME Grant fund is run by Business Growth West Midlands (BGWM).
The funding enabled Eric Lyons, which employs 30 people, to return an empty high street shop back into use.
Nick Lyons, director of Eric Lyons, said: “This [Bentley Heath] shop is playing a key role in our growth along with our shops in Knowle and Wootton Wawen.”
WM Mayor Richard Parker said: “I’m giving businesses the funding and support they need to grow, create jobs and drive our economy forward. We’ve already given £10 million of grants and supported more than 11,000 businesses but there is still more to do.”
Karen Grinsell, deputy leader of Solihull Council, said: “With over 120 years of heritage in Solihull, Eric Lyons is a true pillar of our small business community, providing quality meats and exceptional service over five generations.”
