A new outdoor gallery of wildlife-themed artwork has been unveiled at Sutton Coldfield railway station with woodland creatures and a map of local attractions taking centre stage.
Representatives from West Midlands Railway and Network Rail visited the station to celebrate the project’s completion on Tuesday.
£26,600 from West Midlands Railway
As part of West Midlands Railway’s ‘Your Community, Your Fund’ scheme, the murals were commissioned by local adopters.
The Department for Transport funds the scheme, which aims to inspire people to get involved with the railway in new and interesting ways.
Local artists Wingy, Whimsical Trading Post, Brumhaus and illustrator Tom Woolley crafted the exciting new creations.
It’s not just the artwork
Green spaces have been rejuvenated. Vegetation has been cut back to open up a path allowing improved access to the coffee shop.
Cara Higgs, community strategy manager at WMR, said: “We are so happy to have been able to support with funding to make these improvements, so all our customers can enjoy the space, and passengers will feel inspired to visit the excellent station café and pub.”
