Online SEND survey launched

Parents, carers and education professionals are being invited to share their experiences of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system as part of a new local consultation.

The call-out follows a recent roundtable event hosted by MP Alex Ballinger and local carers’ charity We Love Carers.

The meeting brought together families, school staff and campaigners to discuss the challenges facing those navigating SEND support – from delayed assessments and overstretched schools to the impact on mental health.

Attendees described the event as “insightful” and welcomed the opportunity to speak openly about a system they say too often leaves children and families feeling “ignored and isolated”.

Mr Ballinger said: “This is a crisis affecting thousands of families, not just here, but across the country.”

The MP has now launched an online survey aimed at capturing further views from anyone with experience of SEND, including educators, parents, support workers and young people themselves.

Responses will help shape a formal report intended to make the case for national improvements to SEND provision.
