Solihull Hospital has opened a new “memory garden” designed to offer a calm and quiet space for patients, families and staff.

Situated by the north entrance, the garden was funded by local firms GM Building and Property Services Limited.

A place for peace and remembrance

The garden was created to give people a chance to step away from the clinical setting of the hospital and enjoy peaceful moments.

It provides a space for families to reflect on loved ones receiving treatment or those who have passed away.

Hospital staff are also encouraged to use the garden as a place to unwind, supporting mental wellbeing in a demanding work environment.

Design rooted in care

The space was designed by Estelle Greenwood from GM Building and Property Services Limited.

Estelle said: “I am really proud and honoured to have been able to create the garden for Solihull Hospital and the hospital charity.

“It’s a very serene and quiet place where you can come and visit if you are grieving or to reflect on a happy memory of a loved one.”

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, who officially opened the garden, said it was “a symbol of remembrance, gratitude and love.”

Lasting tributes, ongoing support

A dedication page linked to a QR code in the garden allows visitors to leave tributes and photos for as little as £5.

Funds raised will help the hospital charity continue to support patients, families and staff, ensuring the garden remains a special place for years to come.
