West Midlands Police made 24 arrests in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham during June as part of a proactive enforcement operation to deter criminals.

Officers from the Op Skybridge team made the arrests for a total of 62 alleged offences including threats to kill, burglary, robbery, theft, drug offences and vehicle crime.

The team made 71 stop searches leading to positive outcomes in 48% of cases, the force said, including the seizure of 10 vehicles and two knives.

Sergeant Leon Butler said: “Members of the community have welcomed our police presence in their area, and are appreciative to see officers patrolling the streets.

“This is pure proactive policing, causing maximum difficulty and disruption to those who are doing the most harm to our communities.”
