Birmingham City beat La Liga side Sevilla 3-1 at the Estádio Algarve in Portugal in a pre-season friendly.

Goals from Keshi Anderson, Christoph Klarer and Marc Leonard sealed the win over the five-time UEFA Europa League winners.

The result was a pleasing way to end the Blues’ pre-season training camp on the Iberian Peninsula as they get set to re-enter the Championship this season.

2,000 Bluenoses in Portugal for pre-season friendly

Among the Blues’ travelling fan base was Sukh Singh, chairman of the club’s Official Supporters’ Club (OSC), who said: “It was really good being out in Portugal to see the first pre-season friendly. There were about 2,000 blues fans enjoying themselves in Albufeira.

New signing Neumann was impressive

“The game itself was decent. We got to see Phil Neumann start with Christoph Klarer – very athletic and quick for such a big man.”

The Blues went 2-0 up in the first half with goals from Anderson and captain Klarer.

A whole new team was subbed on at the break. In the second half, fans got to see Tommy Doyle play 20 minutes.

Seville got one back due to some sloppy defending before Marc Leanord landed a free kick to make it 3-1.

Sukh added: “Looking forward to Solihull Moors midweek for the Arthur Cup.”
