Opus International Products is targeting £9m annual revenues as part of a five-year growth strategy

A Warwickshire manufacturer of precision-engineered components has secured its first defence and medical contracts.

This comes after it completed a £1m investment to diversify away from its near-total reliance on the automotive sector, which is still reeling from impacts including the JLR cyberattack and US tariffs.

Opus International Products, which provides CNC machining and injection moulding services from its 40,000 sq ft facility in Leamington Spa, has installed seven new Yizumi machines to expand its production capacity and open up new markets.

The firm previously derived 99% of its revenues from the automotive industry, supplying premium brands including Aston Martin, JLR and Lotus.

With that market facing sustained pressure, the management team made a strategic decision to diversify, drawing on support from the Warwickshire Manufacturing Growth Programme (WMGP) to identify new sectors where its expertise could add value.

New contracts secured as revenues target rises

Two new contracts have already been secured, with more in the pipeline. The firm’s five-year growth strategy aims to increase annual revenues from £7.4m to £9m, with aerospace another target sector.

Managing director Suzie Siddall, who took over the role in 2024 following the death of founder Rob Coles, said: “With two new contracts already secured and more due to confirm, I feel this new approach could deliver £500,000 of business in the next twelve months alone.”

The WMGP is funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered by Oxford Innovation Advice on behalf of Warwickshire County Council.

Councillor Rob Howard, portfolio holder for economy at Warwickshire County Council, said: “Opus International Products is a prime example of the valuable impact the programme has had on our local businesses.”
