The two new Black Country stations connect passengers to services between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury
Two brand new railway stations in the Black Country have opened to the public.
The move returns rail connectivity to local communities for the first time in more than six decades.
Willenhall and Darlaston stations, operated by West Midlands Railway (WMR), carry passengers along the Shrewsbury Line between Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury via Tame Bridge Parkway and Wolverhampton.
Both stations feature sheltered platforms, accessible lifts, ticket machines and secure cycle racks.
£185m investment to deliver five new stations in the region
Darlaston includes a 300-space park and ride car park, while Willenhall has an additional 33 parking spaces.
The openings form part of a £185m construction programme led by Transport for West Midlands to deliver five new stations across the region.
Three further stations on the Camp Hill Line in South Birmingham are due to open next month.
Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director for WMR, said: “These stations will make a huge difference to thousands of passengers in the Black Country, bringing direct transport links to major hubs in Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Telford and Shrewsbury.”
