Full candidate list confirmed

Voters in Wolverhampton will head to the polls on May 7 as all candidates standing in this year’s city council elections have now been officially confirmed.

The “Statement of Persons Nominated and Notice of Poll,” published by the Returning Officer, sets out a full slate of candidates across every ward, with Labour, the Conservatives, Reform UK and the Green Party all fielding strong line-ups.

Labour will be aiming to maintain control of the council, but faces challenges from Reform UK, which has put forward candidates across most wards, alongside Conservative and Green campaigns seeking to gain ground.

Multi-party contest across city

Every ward will see competition from at least three parties, with several also featuring independents and Liberal Democrats.

Wednesfield South stands out as the only ward electing two councillors this year, increasing the stakes in what is already expected to be a closely fought contest.

Polling will take place between 7am and 10pm, with results expected overnight.
