Solihull Men Walking and Talking group meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Solihull MP Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst joined the Solihull Men Walking and Talking group for its regular evening stroll.
The group set off from the gates of Malvern and Brueton Parks in a show of support for grassroots efforts to improve men’s mental health through community connection.
The group, run by Danny Smith, meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening, with members gathering at 6.45pm for a 7.00pm walk.
It offers a relaxed and welcoming environment where men can get active, talk openly and enjoy the company of others.
‘Supportive environment where men can connect and know they are not alone’
Dr Shastri-Hurst spoke with participants about the positive impact the group is having locally, helping men to forge friendships, share experiences and support one another in an informal setting.
He said: “Joining the Men Walking and Talking group at Malvern and Brueton Parks was a genuinely uplifting experience.
“There is something powerful about the simplicity of walking side by side and having the chance to talk or just listen.
“This group is making a real difference in our community by providing a supportive environment where men can connect and know they are not alone.”
Men Walking and Talking groups form part of a wider national initiative aimed at tackling the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and encouraging open, everyday conversations.
Dr Shastri-Hurst added: “I would like to thank the organisers and volunteers who make these walks happen week in, week out. Their commitment is helping to build stronger, healthier communities locally.”
Men of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to attend, with no booking required. Simply turn up at the gates of Malvern and Brueton Parks at 6.45pm on Tuesday or Thursday evening.
