Starting Point Recruitment has announced its support for the BYSA Summer Camp, a major community initiative running from 20 July to 7 August at the Ackers Pavilion in Small Heath. The programme is expected to welcome more than 150 young people aged 6 to 16, offering a powerful blend of sport, mentoring and personal development.
This year’s camp carries particular significance as BYSA enters its 25th year, having supported thousands of young people across Birmingham through sport, education and community engagement. Over a quarter of a century, BYSA has become one of the region’s most trusted and impactful youth organisations.
Across the three‑week camp, participants will take part in a wide range of sports including cricket, tennis, volleyball and basketball, giving young people the chance to build confidence, teamwork and resilience through active engagement. The camp is designed not only to develop sporting ability but also to strengthen character and mindset.
Alongside the sporting activity, every young person will engage in mentoring and educational sessions, delivered by BYSA’s exceptionally talented coaching team. These sessions focus on building a positive, can‑do attitude, encouraging ambition, and helping young people develop the skills and confidence needed to thrive.
The camp will operate within a safe, supportive community environment, with food and drinks provided throughout the day. The emphasis is on creating a space where young people feel welcomed, encouraged and empowered — a place where they can grow, connect and discover new opportunities.
Anwar Khattak BEM said: “Massive thank you to SPR and the team what they do for us at BYSA helps change and save lives on and off the field helping to support and improve young people mind set and give that helping hand to achieve their goals”.
Starting Point Recruitment’s involvement reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting youth development across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. The organisation continues to champion initiatives that deliver real impact, strengthen communities and open doors for young people.
As BYSA marks its 25th year, this summer camp stands as a testament to what sustained community leadership can achieve. If any of my contacts feel they can support the programme or add value in any way, please reach out — this is exactly the kind of initiative where collective effort makes a real difference.
