The 2026 UK’s Best Workplaces in Construction, Engineering & Property™ list was revealed yesterday morning by Great Place To Work® UK, recognising Stiltz Homelifts among the list of organisations in the “Large & Super Large” category.
Stiltz’s employees anonymously reported in a Trust Index © survey that the company’s “Be Nice, Make it Easy” values and culture make it a great place to work.
In recent years, Stiltz has developed its management team through bespoke “Management Academy” and “Mastering Management” training programmes.
This has helped build a culture of trust between managers and their teams, with numerous employees saying that they feel managers are approachable.
Engagement has grown significantly over the last three years in Stiltz’s build, installation and servicing teams. Twelve months ago, the company introduced “Gold Standards” training specifically for field-based colleagues, reinforcing the professionalism they bring to every customer interaction and to how they work
with one another.
“As a group, we’re very empathetic towards our customers and truly care about their needs,” commented one survey respondent. “We would never prescribe a product or solution that we didn’t believe was in their best interest. Our overall leadership style is transparent, communicative, open-minded, customer focused, quality driven and entrepreneurial (willing to experiment and learn). We like to move and pivot quickly, and we like to win.”
The Best Workplaces in Construction, Engineering & Property™ list is created using the anonymous feedback from employees working in the industry about their workplace experience. Great Place To Work® UK administered their research-backed Trust Index© employee survey and analysed the responses of UK-based construction, engineering and property sector employees to determine the Best Workplaces™ list.
The surveys asked employees to comment on how their company supports their work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety and financial security. Evaluations also included an assessment of how well the organisation was able to deliver consistency of their employee experience across all departments and seniority levels.
“Receiving industry recognition based on the voice of our people is very important and humbling for us,” says Tara Lochery, Group People Director at Stiltz. “It’s wonderful to know that our employees think we’re a great place to work. Is there a better endorsement than that?”
Benedict Gautrey, Managing Director of Great Place To Work® UK said: “Construction, engineering, and property organisations often operate across multiple locations, making it essential to create a workplace culture that brings people together, wherever they are based. Our research shows that the highest- performing organisations in this sector achieve this through clear communication, trusted leadership, and a strong sense of inclusion.
As a result, employees feel connected to their colleagues, supported in their roles, and confident they are contributing to a shared purpose. Congratulations to Stiltz Homelifts on being recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Construction, Engineering & Property™ and for building a culture where people can thrive.”
