CGI images of Dudley Interchange were unveiled today, offering the public a first look at the inside of the new transport hub.

The interchange will provide improved links to jobs and leisure opportunities across the West Midlands, including frequent services to Wolverhampton, Birmingham and eventually Merry Hill Shopping Centre.

What does it include?

The interchange, which is expected to open in Spring 2026 includes:

  • A modern, two-storey facility with comfortable waiting areas and live travel information screens.
  • Improved accessibility features and enhanced safety for all users.
  • Environmental benefits to reduce carbon footprint consistent with the region’s net-zero carbon ambition.
  • Seamless connectivity between bus services and the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension.

Reflection of Dudley’s character

Jo Shore, Delivery Director for TfWM (Transport for the West Midlands), said: “We firmly believe this new interchange should be more than just a transport hub; it should be a true reflection of Dudley’s unique character.”

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, said: “Close to £1bn is being invested in the regeneration of Dudley town centre so it’s only right that visitors are given a suitably impressive experience on arrival.

“This new Interchange, with its sleek, modern design, will provide that quality gateway to the town for bus and Metro passengers alike.”

Councillor Patrick Harley, Leader of Dudley Council, said: “Through seamless connections between bus and the forthcoming Metro, this interchange will make a monumental difference to those living, working, and visiting Dudley.”

The interchange is being built by Taylor Woodrow.
