An 18-year-old lad is now in charge of Warwickshire county council after its recently elected Reform UK leader stood down just six weeks into the role.
The resignation of Rob Howard means his deputy, George Finch, takes over as interim leader until a new leader is elected.
After 41 days in post, Howard said he had made the decision with “much regret” blaming poor health.
Finch, councillor for Bedworth Central, was a Conservative party member for three months before joining Reform UK after preferring their ideas on tackling illegal immigration.
On the New Reformer website, Finch described his politics as “Brexit, sovereignty and a strong and united family unit”.
He told the BBC: “I extend my gratitude to Councillor Howard for his service to Warwickshire. I understand his reasons for taking the decision he has and look forward to working with him in the future.
“As interim leader I will ensure this council is in steady hands until a new leader is elected by the group so that we can deliver meaningful results for Warwickshire. Our mission to deliver for residents remains unchanged.”
