Shakespeare Distillery – Winners of the Tourism Awards in 2024

Entries for the West Midlands Tourism Awards are now open.

Businesses from across the region’s tourism industry have been invited to celebrate hard work and success by entering the sixth instalment of the West Midlands Tourism Awards. 

17 different categories

The awards aim to honour the region’s best accommodation, business, cultural and sporting venues, food and drink establishments and heritage and visitor attractions across 17 different categories.

The applicants must lie within:

  • Birmingham 
  • Coventry
  • Dudley
  • North Warwickshire
  • Nuneaton and Bedworth
  • Rugby
  • Sandwell
  • Shropshire
  • Solihull
  • Stratford-upon-avon
  • Telford & Wrekin
  • Walsall
  • Warwick
  • Wolverhampton

A new award for 2026

New for 2026, the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Tourism’ award, aims to recognise those making a lasting impact on the region’s visitor economy. 

With no formal entry form for this new category, organisers urge for the submission of written nominations of up to 500 words regarding why the applicant deserves the award with examples of their contributions.

Organisers have also unveiled a new award category to be voted by the public. Finalists for the ‘Tourism Event/Festival of the Year’ will be shortlisted by judges and the public will be given their voice in the outcome of the award.

Tourism is an important sector for the West Midlands’

Cllr Sharon Thompson, deputy leader of Birmingham city council, said: “Tourism is an important sector for the West Midlands, supporting nearly 150,000 jobs in the region, providing a platform for our residents to build successful careers.”

Free to enter

Organised and funded by the West Midlands Growth Company, the awards are free to enter and are to be judged by independent industry leaders with the deadline for entries July 21 for 15 of the 17 categories. The new ‘Outstanding Contribution to Tourism’ and ‘Tourism Event/Festival of the Year’ closes November 30.
