Edgbaston Park Hotel, owned by the University of Birmingham, has won the “B Corp Certification” – a global benchmark for businesses committed to high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Joining the ranks of companies like The Guardian, Innocent Drinks, and Tony’s Chocolonely, Edgbaston Park Hotel is now part of a growing global community of over 9,700 certified B Corps, including more than 2,500 in the UK.

The certification, awarded by non-profit organisation B Lab UK, recognises businesses that go beyond profit to consider their impact on people and the planet. Through a rigorous auditing process, the hotel demonstrated its dedication to sustainability, ethical governance, and community wellbeing.

‘Proud to be recognised’

“This is a huge moment for us,” said Richard Metcalfe, CEO of Edgbaston Park Hotel.

“We’re proud to be recognised as a force for good, and I’m thankful to our team for delivering excellence in service while always doing the right thing by our staff, community and the environment.”

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, said: “We’re thrilled to have Edgbaston Park Hotel on board. It’s a shining example of how businesses can lead change and contribute to a better future.”
