The UK’s largest container storage firm is expanding into the West Midlands after snapping up five new sites.

Lock Stock Self Storage has acquired Kwikstore sites in West Bromwich, Willenhall, Earlswood near Solihull, Stoke and Kidderminster.

The deal has added 500 units and four acres of storage space to the North Wales-based firm’s network which now includes more than 6,400 containers.

It is the company’s largest site acquisition to date and strengthens its growing presence across the Midlands as part of a wider growth strategy.

In recent years the family-run company has also expanded into Cheshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Merseyside.

Regional manager Alan Brightmore, who will oversee four of the newly-acquired sites, said the agreement was a major milestone for the business, increasing its presence to 38 sites across 30 towns and cities.

He said: “We’re delighted to have added five fantastic new sites to Lock Stock, and are excited for a new chapter, bringing our brand and expertise to even more customers across the Midlands.

“Our priority throughout the transition has been to make the process as smooth as possible for existing customers while investing in each site to ensure they receive the high standards of security, accessibility and customer service that Lock Stock is known for.”

Ollie Beech, Lock Stock Self Storage’s marketing and communication officer, said the company is planning to invest and expand each of the five sites.

He said: “This acquisition is another exciting step in our long-term growth strategy.

“We’re committed to investing in the communities we serve, creating first-class self-storage facilities and continuing to grow the business through both strategic acquisitions and new developments.

“We’re excited about what the future holds and look forward to welcoming both existing and new customers to Lock Stock.”

According to Alan Brightmore, there were a huge number of benefits to customers using Lock Stock for their storage needs.

He added: “For householders it is a really great way of freeing up space and it is a terrific way of decluttering your home.

“If you’re moving house, our containers are there whenever you need them to allow you to store the entire contents of your home as you are moving.

“The benefit of Lock Stock in particular is you only pay for what you need.

“So essentially, if you pay for a month, but in the end you only need two weeks, we will refund you the difference, so you have that great flexibility with us.

“Our containers are also particularly popular and useful for local businesses.

“They are ideal if your business is expanding or if you need to keep stock somewhere safe and secure.

“Security is of course our top priority.

“All our sites are covered with CCTV in operation, gates are all coded and we have got solar lighting on our sites to ensure all our parks are totally secure.

“We are really excited to be working with businesses and residents in these new areas for us and forming new relationships within the community.”

Founded in Denbigh in North Wales in 2000, the expanding company now provides more than five million cubic feet of space, with containers ranging from 10, 20 and40-foot long units.

The company estimates that over 70 per cent of their units are rented by people moving house or keeping treasured possessions, but nearly 30 per cent, almost 2,000, are used by a variety of businesses for storing materials, stock and equipment.
