Tile supplier sees footfall almost double following seven-figure investment in new 3,400 sq ft space

A family-run tile supplier has reported a 25% rise in public sales following a major overhaul of its Birmingham showroom.

The refurb includes a striking 110-strong display slab wall emerging as its centrepiece attraction.

Solus Ceramics, recognised as one of the UK’s fastest-growing suppliers of architectural and sustainable tiles, invested seven figures in transforming its 3,400 sq ft headquarters in Tyseley earlier this year.

Since opening, footfall has almost doubled and the firm has also strengthened its share of the local contractors’ market.

The new space presents a carefully curated product range grouped by aesthetic genre – marble, stone, terracotta, wood, concrete and decorative collections – rather than by brand, with clapper and drawer units and room sets helping customers visualise materials in context.

Design-led approach

Marcus Bentley, CEO of Solus Ceramics, said: “Visitors can expect a design-led experience shaped to provide inspiration, rather than a traditional tile showroom.

“A lot of time and understanding has gone into the space, which has been carefully curated to help customers move beyond browsing samples and instead fully visualise how materials will work in real environments.”

He added that the investment was “definitely paying off”, attracting homeowners from across the Midlands alongside developers, corporate clients and architects.

The company, founded by Peter Bentley in 1995, has recorded revenues exceeding £10m since 2021, with turnover expected to surpass £26m going into 2027.

It continues to work on prestigious projects including Porsche, Kensington Olympia and Finsbury Dials, and has supplied over four million square metres of tiles since 2019.
