Telford-based Crown Plus creates 20 jobs in what investors call a transformative year

A Telford-based highways drainage contractor has doubled its revenue and created 20 new jobs.

This follows a £3.9m equity investment from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II, managed by Mercia Ventures.

Crown Plus, founded in 2015 by Paul Conner and Gary Price, secured the funding in April 2025 and has since won a string of new contracts, expanded its team and invested more than £2m in plant and equipment to enable it to take on larger projects.

The company, which now employs 72 staff, also appointed Jenny Moten as Managing Director following her arrival as Executive Director in September 2025. She previously held senior roles at National Highways, Amey and Cadent.

Sustainable growth on the road ahead

Crown Plus is known for pioneering lower-carbon maintenance techniques, including its filter drain recycling process, which cleans and recycles gravel on site rather than replacing it, reducing landfill waste, traffic disruption and project costs.

The company, which works with National Highways and major contractors, recently completed a significant project on the M50 in the Midlands and is currently working on a major scheme on the A46.

Crown Plus expects to increase turnover by a further 25% and create 25 new jobs by 2030.
