Staff at the region’s service branch have raised more than £3,000 for a charity tackling homelessness, mental health and youth support across the city

The West Midlands branch of Stannah Lifts Distribution and Service has completed 455 miles of a nationwide 4,000-mile charity cycling challenge, raising £3,020 for Birmingham-based charity LoveBrum.

The challenge sees over 700 colleagues across 11 service branches collectively cycle one full lap of Britain on a single indoor exercise bike, which travels between each location. The 4,000-mile target is the equivalent of 1.28 million lift journeys.

Branch Manager Peter Bailey praised the commitment of his colleagues: “The cycle challenge is not only a fundraising initiative, but also a true test of participants’ determination, resilience and endurance. With the recent spell of warmer weather adding to the challenge, colleagues have had to dig deep to keep pushing forward.”

A visit fit for the occasion

The branch received a boost when Deputy Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Adam Aston, and Deputy Consort Ben Middleton visited the team at their Coombswood Way site. Councillor Aston said: “Stannah has demonstrated a wonderfully imaginative way of supporting local charities. Their commitment and teamwork reflect the very best of our community.”

LoveBrum, which gives 100% of public donations directly to the projects it funds, expressed its gratitude. Charity Manager Adam Heard said: “Their dedication and fundraising efforts will help LoveBrum continue supporting small, volunteer-led projects that make a real difference.”

The exercise bike now travels to the Warrington branch to continue its virtual journey around Great Britain.
