Dudley Council is preparing to launch a new £100,000 business support grant scheme to help town centre businesses maximise the economic opportunities presented by the arrival of the Metro and new Dudley Interchange.
The funding follows investment secured by the Leader of Dudley Council from the Mayor of the West Midlands and forms part of the Council’s wider work to support a strong, resilient and thriving town centre.
The scheme will be open to eligible businesses across Dudley town centre, with priority given to businesses located in close proximity to the Metro and Interchange developments. It will support businesses to strengthen their offer, build resilience and prepare for the increased connectivity and opportunities these major investments will bring.
Full details of the eligibility criteria, assessment process and how businesses can apply will be published when the scheme formally launches later this week.
The Council is also appointing a dedicated Town Centre Development Manager who will work directly with businesses, encourage collaboration and support the continued development and vitality of Dudley town centre. This will provide a valuable resource for businesses as Dudley prepares to welcome Metro services.
Councillor Simon Phipps, Cabinet Member for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “The Metro and new Interchange represent a once in a generation opportunity for Dudley. They will transform how people connect with the town and give us a powerful new platform to attract new visitors, activity and investment.
