Nineteen staff took part in the Great Birmingham Run over the May Bank Holiday
A 19-strong team from BDO hit the streets of Birmingham over the May Bank Holiday to take part in the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run raising funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust.
Joining 16,000 other runners for the annual 10k and half marathon, the BDO Midlands team finished 11th in the 10k Business Challenge and 8th in the half marathon Business Challenge.
With support from the firm’s Matched Giving policy, the team has now raised more than £10,000 for Acorns since the charity became its chosen office charity in spring 2024. Acorns operates three specialist hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester.
Vital care for children and families
Kyla Bellingall, regional managing partner at BDO in the Midlands, said: “What a fantastic day and such a great all-round effort by our 19-strong team. Acorns is a very special charity, providing vital care and support to children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families.”
She added: “We’re proud to support Acorns as our chosen office charity of the year through a host of fundraising initiatives, including the Great Birmingham Run.”
Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity provides a range of services including respite, emergency and end-of-life care, and needs to raise £14 million annually to fund its work across hospices and community settings.
