Local MP is running his annual pub contest to support the embattled hospitality sector

Bromsgrove MP Bradley Thomas has announced the return of his annual Pub of the Year competition, inviting pubs across his political patch to take part.

The competition seeks to recognise the important role pubs play in supporting the local economy and bringing communities together.

Last year 18 pubs entered the contest and almost 1,000 votes were cast by residents from across the Bromsgrove and the Villages constituency.

Bremi’s in Aston Fields

Bremi’s in Aston Fields was named Bromsgrove and the Villages Pub of the Year after receiving the highest number of votes. Social Sticks finished in second place, followed by Bayleys of Bromsgrove in third.

Pubs are now being encouraged to put themselves forward for this year’s competition. Nominations opened yesterday, January 12, and can be submitted via Bradley Thomas MP’s website. The deadline for entries is 5.30pm on Thursday February 5.

Once nominations close, members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite local pub.

Mr Thomas said pubs were at the heart of community life, providing places where people eat, drink and spend time together.

He said the competition was especially important at a time when pubs were facing continued financial pressures, including rising business rates.

The winning pub will be crowned Bromsgrove and the Villages Pub of the Year 2026.
