The Aberdonian cruiserweight went the distance v Dylan Courtney
Scottish cruiserweight James Patterson won his first professional fight in his home city of Aberdeen.
The 24-year-old, who lives and trains in Northern Ireland, won the four-round bout on points against Dylan Courtney, 30, from Penzance, Cornwall.
James, speaking after the win, said: “It feels good to have won. It’s a great reward for all the time, hard work and dedication.”
He spent five years as an amateur before making the move to go pro earlier this year.

Day job as a gas engineer
But it’s still early days for James, who continues to work the day job as a gas engineer.
Every evening he does a four-hour round trip by car from near Londonderry, where he lives with his fiancee Rhiannon, to Beflast to train.
While delighted to have won his first pro contest, James is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.
“I’m going to take one fight at a time,” he said.
“I’m going to push for a Scottish title and see where it takes me from there.”
He’s at the start of his pro journey
Among James’s sponsors is Walk Through Walls, the Birmingham-based public affairs, business growth and communications consultancy.
Professor Paul Cadman, the executive executive chairman and founder, said: “We’re thrilled for James. He’s at the start of his professional career and we’re excited to see where it takes him.”
