Transport for West Midlands teaming up with Citymapper

Passengers across the West Midlands can now plan their journeys more easily thanks to a new partnership between Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and travel app Citymapper.

TfWM has upgraded its website with a new journey planner powered by Citymapper’s technology.

It allows users to compare routes across buses, trains, trams and cycling networks. The Citymapper app has unveiled a co-branded look for the region.

More reliable real-time information for public transport users

As part of the deal, nBus mobile tickets will soon be available to purchase directly on the app. Passengers travelling in and around Coventry will also gain access to integrated booking for ‘West Midlands Bus On Demand,’ the region’s flexible bus service.

Sandeep Shingadia, executive director of TfWM, said: “This is an important step in making it easier for people to move around our region.

“By giving passengers clearer, more reliable information and simple ways to plan and pay for their journeys, we’re encouraging more people to choose public transport.”

Sam Griffiths, head of UK and Nordics at Via, Citymapper’s parent company, said: “We are thrilled to expand our long-standing relationship with TfWM and help unlock the full potential of our integrated platform.”

The partnership will also provide TfWM with data to support its transition to a franchised bus network. The upgraded journey planner is live now at tfwm.org.uk.

I have been using the TWM journey planner for some years and whilst it had its problems compared to this new service being provided by city mapper it was paradise.
The new service is less intuitive, user unfriendly and unpleasant to use. It looks like it has been created by someone who has never visited the West Midlands.
For the love of god bring back the old journey planner.
I would love to know what other users think.
