The RunThrough Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon returns to Stratford-upon-Avon this month

Forget the London Marathon, taking place on the same day. Hundreds of runners are expected to descend on Stratford-upon-Avon for the return of the RunThrough Shakespeare Marathon and Half-Marathon on Sunday April 26.

Starting at 9am at the Recreation Ground, participants will take on either a full or half marathon distance on a flat, closed-road course through the historic town and surrounding Warwickshire countryside.

The route heads from the town centre past the racecourse towards Luddington and Welford-on-Avon, before returning via the Stratford Greenway. Half-marathon runners complete one lap, while marathon participants tackle an extended second loop.

Organised by RunThrough in partnership with Stratford Rotary Club, the event is a well-established fixture in the local sporting calendar, drawing competitors from across the region and beyond.

Many runners will be raising funds for The Shakespeare Hospice, which provides specialist care and support to people affected by life-limiting illness or bereavement.

Spectators are welcome to line the course and cheer runners home at the town centre finish.
