Starting Point Recruitment commits to Britain’s ‘promise’ to those who serve or have served
A West Midlands recruitment firm has signed a national commitment to support the Armed Forces Community ratified by the Ministry of Defence.
Multi-sector consultancy Starting Point Recruitment (SPR), which is based in Walsall and Birmingham, has joined the Armed Forces Covenant, described as “a promise from the nation to those who serve or who have served, and their families.”
The firm joins more than 13,000 organisations across the UK that have publicly committed to the covenant, with all signatories pledging to ensure that the men and women who have served King and Country are “treated fairly and are not disadvantaged in their day-to-day lives.”
By signing the covenant, SPR has promised to support reservists with paid leave and mobilisation, assist veterans in recruitment, offer flexible working arrangements to service spouses, and promote military values across its business.
‘Military people are the best of us’
Jamie Naish, executive director at SPR, said: “The men and women who serve in our Armed Forces live by certain core values: courage, discipline, respect, integrity, loyalty and selfless commitment.
“It is only right that SPR honours their professionalism and sacrifice by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.”
SPR’s Armed Forces Covenant certificate states: “We, the undersigned, commit to honour the Armed Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community.
“We recognise the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our business and country.”
The announcement coincides with SPR developing plans to establish a dedicated military veterans recruitment division within the company.
Professor Paul Cadman, chief executive of SPR, said: “I’m proud to publicly formalise our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. Military people are the best of us.
“These brave men and women serve King and Country so we can enjoy the freedoms we so often take for granted.”
