Rebecca Williams has been promoted to the role of deputy managing director at WPR.

Having joined the agency nine years ago as consumer PR director, Rebecca was appointed to the board as director of people and planning in 2020.

That role saw her take responsibility for every aspect of the team, from recruitment and retention to training and wellbeing. She also launched the award-winning NextGen initiative and introduced an innovative DEI programme designed to champion protected groups within WPR and build an agency truly representative of the wider community by 2028.

As deputy managing director, Rebecca will continue to oversee people and planning but will also take on responsibility for internal operational delivery and governance.

Rebecca Williams, deputy managing director, said: “Since I entered the world of PR over 20 years ago, WPR was always the pinnacle of my ambitions. It was the agency you never wanted to be up against at an awards ceremony, or to see walking out of a pitch as you walked in.

“When I joined in 2017, I knew I had found my home – and I’m so grateful to Jane, and the wider SLT, for the continued opportunities. I’m beyond excited to expand my role and continue to make WPR the very best agency it can be.”

Jane Ainsworth, managing director, said: “Bex brings energy and passion to everything she does – she’s a truly positive force for the agency. We have ambitious targets and I know that, in her new role, Bex will excel at ensuring our plans and priorities reflect those targets and that we deliver on them. She’s an invaluable member of our leadership team.”

In recent years, WPR has won significant recognition for its team and agency culture including being named best mid-size consultancy at the PRWeek People and Places Awards 2026, winning the PRCA Dare team culture and community award in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026, and winning best large agency, best training and development and best employee value awards at PRCA Workplace Champions 2026.
