New services, extra seats and half-price tickets mark the twice-yearly national timetable update
West Midlands Railway (WMR) is reminding passengers that national timetable changes will take effect this Sunday (May 17).
There will be updated departure times and frequencies on a number of routes, WMR said.
The twice-yearly timetable update will see WMR introduce additional early morning services on several routes, including the popular Cross City Line and services between Wolverhampton and Rugeley.
More seats and a new London direct service
Sister brand London Northwestern Railway (LNR) is adding 42,000 extra seats per week on services to and from London Euston, following the rollout of new longer electric trains. The move boosts capacity by 20 per cent, and to mark the occasion, LNR is offering half-price advance tickets to London from Sunday.
A new direct weekday service between Walsall and London Euston will also launch, departing at 05:46 each morning. The existing 18:26 service from Euston will now terminate at Walsall.
Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at WMR, encouraged passengers to plan ahead. “I’d encourage passengers to check their travel times in case they are different to what they’re used to,” he said. “All our new timetables are now in journey planners.”
