Funding will provide 25 specialist therapeutic sessions for children and young people facing loss
Grief Encounter, a nationwide charity supporting bereaved children and their families, has received a £2,500 grant from Maximus Foundation UK, the disability support services provider.
Founded in 2004, Grief Encounter provides specialist bereavement support to children, families, schools and professionals across the country.
Statistically, one child in every UK classroom will experience the death of someone close to them before the age of 16, underlining the urgent need for timely, expert care.
Funding the frontline
The grant will fund approximately 25 one-to-one therapeutic sessions delivered by trained therapists to children identified as most at risk following bereavement.
Each session offers a confidential space for young people to explore their grief, develop coping strategies and begin to move forward at a critical stage in their development.
Charis Green, Chair of Maximus Foundation UK, said: “Grief Encounter delivers compassionate, specialist support to children and young people facing profound loss, and this grant will help ensure more families receive the care they need when it matters most.”
Support from the heart
Amelia Davies, Trusts Manager at Grief Encounter, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Maximus Foundation UK for their generous grant.
“Their support will help ensure that no child has to grieve alone, enabling us to deliver 25 specialist, one-to-one therapeutic sessions to grieving children and young people across the UK.”
The grant was presented in person by a Maximus Foundation trustee. Since 2015, the Foundation has awarded grants totalling more than £718,000 to local charities nationwide.
