West Midlands manufacturer Squire celebrates Dave Maydew’s award for dedication to grassroots football
Dave Maydew, chairman of Bilbrook Junior FC, one of Wolverhampton’s biggest junior football clubs, has been named Staffordshire FA Groundsman of the Year 2026.
West Midlands-based manufacturer Squire, which sponsors the club, is celebrating the award, given in recognition of Dave’s dedication to maintaining the club’s pitches and facilities for hundreds of players across Wolverhampton.
Bilbrook Junior FC is one of the region’s largest grassroots clubs, with more than 38 teams and a strong reputation for developing young players within the local community.
A driving force behind the club
Dave said: “It’s a real honour to receive this award. Looking after the pitches is a job I love, and seeing children enjoy a safe, well-kept place to play each week makes it all worthwhile.”
A spokesperson for Squire said: “Dave is a driving force behind what makes Bilbrook Junior FC thrive, and this recognition from Staffordshire FA is thoroughly deserved. Supporting clubs like Bilbrook is central to our commitment to grassroots sport.”
Squire’s backing of Bilbrook Junior FC forms part of its wider focus on supporting local teams and organisations that create opportunities for young people in the community.
Squire offers its congratulations to Dave and everyone at Bilbrook Junior FC following this county-wide recognition.
