A Derbyshire running club celebrating its 10th anniversary has received a £250 donation from housebuilder Bloor Homes to help grow its presence in the local community.

Mickleover Running Club, which has more than 150 members and operates from the Mason Arms in Mickleover, will use the funding to purchase pop-up banners and teardrop flags for display at its headquarters and local events throughout the year.

The club was one of four local organisations selected to receive a donation from the Cromwell Orchard Community Fund, following an open application process inviting charities, schools, support groups and sports clubs to apply.

A club for all abilities

Robert Humber, Communications Officer at Mickleover Running Club, said the timing made the award particularly meaningful. “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this support from Bloor Homes, especially in our 10th anniversary year. Running genuinely changes lives, and the more people we can reach, the better,” he said.

The volunteer-run club hosts group runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening, as well as a monthly trail run, and delivers a highly regarded Couch to 5K programme that has helped many local residents build fitness and confidence.

Angie Prince, Sales Director for Bloor Homes’ Midlands region, said the club’s inclusive approach had impressed the team. “To be celebrating their 10th anniversary this year makes this donation feel all the more special,” she added.

Ravensdale Junior School, Mickleover Pavilion Association and St John’s Church also received donations from the fund.
