Government scheme offers £3,000 for every eligible young person hired.
Sonia Kumar, Member of Parliament for Dudley, is encouraging businesses across the constituency to take advantage of the Government’s new Youth Jobs Grant, which offers employers £3,000 for every eligible young person they recruit.
The scheme is designed to help businesses create new employment opportunities for young people aged 18 to 24 who have been unemployed and claiming Universal Credit for at least six months.
Employers of all sizes and sectors can apply through a simple online process, with funding paid in two instalments – £1,800 after the second month of employment and £1,200 after the fifth month.
The Youth Jobs Grant forms part of the Government’s wider £2.5 billion Youth Guarantee, which aims to support up to 60,000 young people into work, training and opportunity over the next three years.
Sonia Kumar MP said: “Too many talented young people want to work but need that first opportunity to gain experience, develop skills and build a successful career. At the same time, many local businesses are looking to recruit and invest in their workforce.
The Youth Jobs Grant is a win-win. It gives employers financial support to recruit and train young people while helping more of our young residents take their first steps into lasting employment.

The Government expects the scheme to create around 20,000 new opportunities each year, helping to tackle youth unemployment while supporting economic growth across the country.
