Birmingham Edgbaston MP opens first Banking Hub in Birmingham 

Local MP Preet Kaur Gill has officially opened the new Banking Hub on Harborne High Street.  

After campaigning for years against bank closures on the High Street, Preet Kaur Gill attended the opening of the new hub which will provide accessible banking facilities for residents.  

The Hub has been delivered by Cash Access UK and will provide shared banking services, allowing residents to make cash withdrawals, cash deposits, pay utility bills, check account balance and collect change. Customers will also be able to speak directly with community bankers from major banks on dedicated days throughout the week. 

Preet Kaur Gill MP for Birmingham Edgbaston said, “I am delighted after meeting with cash access and five years of campaigning we have a banking hub on Harborne High Street. 

For years I have campaigned against bank closures, from Santander to Lloyds, it has been a continuous cycle of closures which have impacted residents who rely on High Street banks.  

Residents have regularly spoken to me about bank closures and the impact it has had on their lives, particularly for elderly people and local businesses. With residents being forced to make longer journeys to the city centre to simply access their cash. 

After years of campaigning, I am thrilled the Harborne Banking Hub is open. It is an exciting addition to one of Birmingham’s most thriving and vibrant High Streets.  

I am proud to have worked with residents to secure this outcome and honoured to officially open the hub.”

The Banking Hub is now open on 93a High Street, Harborne from 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday. 

A community banker will be available at the hub throughout the week, with representatives from different UK banks offering face-to-face support to customers.
