A 15-year-old Muay Thai boxer from Birmingham is set to represent Team England in Thailand.

Louis Thompson, who trains at K-Star Thai Boxing Academy in Perry Barr, took up the sport three years ago and has been competing for two years.

He has now been selected to fly the flag for England at the Muay Thai Festival in Bangkok in June.

Louis’s has been made possible by sponsorship from Wolverhampton-based community lender BCRS Business Loans. The deal covers one year of support as well as a contribution towards his training kit.

Community investment at the heart of the deal

BCRS Business Loans head of marketing and impact Kiran Morar, who put Louis forward for the sponsorship, said: “At BCRS Business Loans, we are passionate about investing in our community, and Louis is a truly inspiring young talent.

“Supporting him on his journey to represent Team England in Bangkok is something we are incredibly proud of.”

Club backing the rising star

K-Star head coach Steve Logan added: “The sport is self-funded so sponsorship from businesses like BCRS is really important to us.

“Louis is a dedicated and motivated boxer and the fact he has been selected to compete at the highest level is amazing.”

Louis himself said he hoped the support would help him pursue further titles, including a World Boxing Council title in the future.
