Came to Britain to study – now targeting £8m in sales by 2023

Two brothers who moved to the UK to study are transforming workplace safety with the launch of a pioneering smart glove designed to protect workers from Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS).

Andrei and Vlad Feraru, founders of Coventry-based Feraru Dynamics, are targeting £8 million in global sales by 2030 following strong demand for their HAV-Sentry system from construction firms, manufacturers, landscapers and utilities companies worldwide.

The brothers developed the technology after Andrei identified gaps in existing vibration monitoring solutions while working at Rolls-Royce.

HAV-Sentry – gauntlet worn by operators of vibrating tools

Developed in partnership with Coventry University, HAV-Sentry is a wearable system built into an antibacterial, breathable textile gauntlet worn by operators of vibrating tools. Sensors embedded in the palm capture real-time vibration data, which is analysed using artificial intelligence and dashboard analytics.

The system calculates exposure in line with international standards ISO 5349 and ISO 8041, alerting workers when they approach safe exposure limits and enabling employers to take preventative action.

The data-driven approach helps organisations move beyond traditional paper-based assessments by identifying the root causes of vibration exposure, improving compliance, reducing injury risk and avoiding costly fines.

More than 30 companies across five continents have already adopted the technology, helping to create 12 technical and commercial jobs and generating millions in forecast revenue by 2026.

Andrei Feraru said the product represents eight years of development and more than £1 million of research and development investment. HAV-Sentry is currently the only solution on the market capable of capturing accurate, ISO-compliant, personalised exposure data across full work shifts.

Coventry University supported the brothers by helping patent the technology and establish Feraru Dynamics as a spin-out company in 2018. The university later provided incubation space, academic expertise and testing facilities before the first commercial sale to Coventry City Council in 2022. It has since divested its equity to support the company’s rapid growth.

High-profile industry backers

Recent months have seen Feraru Dynamics attract high-profile industry backers, including former senior leaders from Balfour Beatty and HS2, alongside executives from energy, manufacturing and construction firms.

Vlad Feraru said thousands of workers now use the glove daily across the UK, the US, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

He added: “The recent change in HSE guidance – validating our palm-based measurement method – is a game-changer and gives us the momentum to achieve our £8m sales target by 2030, doubling our workforce in the process.”

Looking ahead, Feraru Dynamics plans to expand its smart PPE portfolio to address musculoskeletal disorders, whole-body vibration and exposure to noise, dust and chemicals, positioning the company as a global leader in digital occupational health.
