A former paratrooper has opened a Leamington Spa health and wellbeing hub after transforming a town centre building.
Physiotherapist Jay Moore, 32, and fellow director Christine Coe have converted Hawkstone House at Portland Mews into a practice offering physiotherapy, rehabilitation, medical services and wellbeing support.
The hub includes physiotherapy, sports injury, sports massage, private GP services, podiatry, chiropody, medical aesthetics and hair salon, with further specialist services to be added as demand grows.
Jay said: “We wanted to create a place where people can access high‑quality support in a welcoming environment. Bringing different services together means clients can get the care they need in one location and doing that in a building with such a unique history makes it feel even more special.”
Jay and Christine began searching for a permanent base after starting out from a single rented room in a nearby retail unit.
Renovation work began in late January, supported by a six-figure investment, and finished at the end of May, updating the building with modern treatment rooms, improved facilities, a dedicated changing area, and on‑site parking with additional street parking.
Jay said: “The location gave us the chance to create something that feels professional but still personal. We’ve kept the character of the building while making sure the space is comfortable, accessible and genuinely focused on helping people improve their health and wellbeing.”
Jay retrained as a physiotherapist after serving in high‑pressure military environments. He says the discipline, teamwork and decision‑making skills developed during his service continue to influence his approach.
He said: “My military background taught me the importance of preparation, teamwork and staying focused under pressure. Those values still guide how I support patients and colleagues.”
The practice plans to expand its physiotherapy services in the coming months, including diagnostic ultrasound scanning and injection therapy. It operates under a long‑term lease with an option to purchase the building in around three years.
Jay added: “What started as a single rented room has become a permanent space designed around the needs of the local community. We’re proud to have created somewhere that is professional, approachable and focused on helping people feel better.”
