With disruption and higher passenger numbers are expected across the rail network, West Midlands Railway (WMR) is advising passengers to check before travelling over the festive period.
Christmas markets, amended timetables and essential infrastructure upgrades will affect services in late December and early January.
No WMR trains will operate on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, while services will finish earlier than usual on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
Engineering work will also impact several routes. On 28 December, services between Worcester and Kidderminster or Bromsgrove will be replaced by buses until 4pm.
Overnight maintenance from 10pm on 31 December to 10am on 1 January will see rail replacement buses operating between Birmingham and Lichfield Trent Valley and Tame Bridge Parkway.
Passengers travelling with WMR’s sister operator, London Northwestern Railway (LNR), should also be aware of vital track upgrades near Milton Keynes between 27 December and 5 January.
Plan your journeys in advance
During this period, some services to and from London Euston will be replaced by buses.
Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at LNR, said: “We’re encouraging passengers travelling over Christmas to plan their journeys in advance.
“Due to engineering works, rail replacement buses may be in operation on certain routes, so it’s important to check journey planners and allow plenty of time to travel.”
